Is Your Home Stressing You Out?
Have you ever walked into your house after a long day and thought...
"Why does it feel so...heavy in here?"
The dishes are done.
The floors are clean.
The laundry is folded (or at least it's in the basket pretending to be folded đ).
And yet something still feels...off.
Whether you believe it's energy, stress, or simply the emotional weight we all carry from day to day, I think our homes should be places where we can exhale.
For me, creating that feeling isn't just about cleaning the countertops. It's about creating little rituals that signal to my brain and body that it's time to slow down.
Here are three of my favorites...
Sage
Burning sage has been part of cultural and spiritual traditions for generations. Many people enjoy incorporating it into mindfulness rituals because it creates a moment to pause, reflect, and intentionally reset the atmosphere in their home.
Whether you see it as symbolic or deeply spiritual, there's something powerful about walking through your home with intention and deciding to leave the day's stress behind.
Palo Santo
Palo Santo has a warm, woodsy scent that's become one of my favorites.
Lighting a stick, opening a window, and taking a few slow breaths instantly reminds me to slow down. It's amazing how something as simple as scent can help shift your mindset after a busy day.
Frankincense
If I had to pick a favorite...this might be it.
Frankincense has this warm, grounding aroma that makes my home instantly feel cozy. I like to think of it as the finishing touch. Whether I'm diffusing it, adding it to my cleansing routine, or simply enjoying the scent, it always helps me feel a little more centered.
It's Really About Intention
The truth is, these rituals aren't magic.
The real magic is giving yourself permission to slow down.
Opening a window.
Taking a deep breath.
Setting an intention for your home.
Whether that's peace, gratitude, joy, or simply hoping nobody asks what's for dinner for the next ten minutes. đ
Sometimes those small moments are exactly what we need to reset.
So Here's Your Challenge...
The next time your home feels a little chaotic, resist the urge to immediately grab another cleaning product.
Instead, pause.
Open a window.
Take a few deep breaths.
Light a candle, diffuse your favorite essential oil, burn sage or Palo Santo if those practices resonate with you, and simply take a moment to reset.
Maybe it's the scent.
Maybe it's the ritual.
Maybe it's just five uninterrupted minutes of breathing.
Whatever it is, create a space that feels peaceful to you.
Because our homes should be more than just the places we live. They should be the places where we recharge.
